Goals and Possibilities

The difference between the impossible and the possible lies in a person’s determination. -Tommy Lasorda
Some time ago, I had a wonderful opportunity to travel to a place that I had been dreaming about – Myanmar; the picture above is taken in Rangoon. It was a magical trip that made me realize how blessed I was. It was as if I had won a lottery – a lottery of spirit. It was during this trip that I actually understood how our attitudes and expectations determine what or where we end up.
Think of all the times you accomplished something that felt impossible, or that you felt or were told could not be done. What allowed you to push ahead regardless of the doubts? What encouraged you to keep moving forward? Now think of times when you gave up, why did that happen?
A lot happens inside our heads first – in our thoughts, in our imagination and sometimes in our dreams. I remember going to a seminar and the speaker explaining that ‘energy follows intention’ – in other words, whatever we manifest in front of us was a thought first, an idea or dream. A dream or thought, however, can not become a reality without action. Until we take action, it remains ‘potential energy’ – energy that is available and needs something to push it into ‘kinetic energy’. When we take action in any form, we turn the potential energy into kinetic energy. It is kinetic energy that does the work. My trip to Myanmar would not have happened if I had not actually planned and sorted out the trip, contacted the right venues and moved forward with it.
What are you doing with all that stored energy that is holding your dreams and ideas? What steps might you need to take to move forward?
Our greatest weakness lies in giving up. The most certain way to succeed is always to try just one more time. – Thomas A. Edison
